Dream in Flowers

Josie Johnson

My paintings are a response to my local landscapes as well as floral observations, often derived from memory and my imagination.

I seek to create atmosphere and light through a rhythm of colour, and a balance of pattern, texture and form.

I like to use oil on wood panel or canvas, sometimes with pastel. I often return to my painting many times, shifting the emphasis, creating layers and letting the painting evolve as it will, until I reach a natural conclusion.

My studio is in the garden of my house in Reepham, Norfolk.

As I tend to work with the ebb and flow of the seasons, I’m currently playing with the change to autumn colours in semi-abstract interpretations of the patterns found in the trees, landscape and sky.

I have worked as a graphic designer since graduating from Brighton University in 1995. First working in London and now Norfolk, I split my time between design projects and my love of painting. Colour and composition being my preoccupation in both.
