Brian Lewis
Since moving to North Norfolk in 1981 Brian has been influenced by the coastline and architecture. Until recently he painted in acrylics an gesso board, homemade gesso using rabbits skin glue and whiting, not the shop bought acrylic pretend gesso! Recently he has been working on large, detailed canvases as gesso boards are too heavy over a certain size. These large paintings are from an aerial point of view and feature Norwich Cathedral, Cley at night, Wells-Next-the-Sea, Blakeney Duck Pond and Sheringham Park.
Born in 1947 in Surrey, Brian went to Holyfield County Secondary School (Art Stream) at the age of 13 which included attending Kingston Art School on Saturdays. Then a foundation course at Epsom School of Art for one year before going to Guildford School of Art for three years. Royal Academy Schools for three year's and in 1980 studied Advance Print Making at Croydon Art School for one year.
He paints the blue sky days, the lighter side of life, leaving the grey days and angst for others…
