Chris Kirby

Chris a still-life painter whose work can best be described as semi-abstract in style. He is particularly interested in the placement and juxtaposition of shapes and forms which he often presents in a mildly distorted or flattened perspective.

He studied at Kingston School of Art & Design in the late 60s where he his Influences included the French post-impressionists, particularly Paul Cezanne and the St Ives School, especially artists Ben Nicholson and Christopher Wood.

Over the years, he has taken a multi-disciplined approach to his practice, working with collage, constructive sculptural work, enhanced photo-based artwork as well as traditional painting on canvas and board. He has exhibited internationally including galleries in New York, London and Rome.
