Alex Boardman

Alex is a figurative painter who has been drawing and painting since childhood. She studied at Southend College of Technology and Norwich School of Art. All her works strive for economy of brush stroke to make every mark count, whether dealing with the human head, figure, a single tree or seascape.

She has won many awards including being shortlisted for first prize in the Royal Society of Portrait Painters Annual Exhibition in 1985 and runner-up in Drawings for All in 1990. Her work has also been selected for numerous exhibitions including the BP Portrait Award at the National Portrait Gallery, The Society of Woman Artists at The Mall Galleries and the Sir John Hurt Art Prize at Holt Festival.
